About Muktiforum: Muktiforum started as a platform for anti-establishment writers, journalists, authors and artists. During the safe streets movements of 2018 in Bangladesh, the largely opinion-based platform was converted into a citizen journalism platform in order to serve as the sole media covering the protests. Since then, the platform morphed in to both an independent opinion page and a news source.
Recently, Muktiforum is trying to launch an initiative to form an independent political platform that will serve as an organization to create a liberal, pluralist and pro-people political culture through activism, cultural activities, writing, sports and policy analysis. Muktiforum holds weekly meetings and, if an organization results from the meetings, the results will be widely shared.
The platform’s primary expression is through its Facebook page and group where the members engage in robust conversations about the politics, economics and culture of Bangladesh. Muktiforum also releases a newsletter and produces news reports.
